"Poker Badge"!
Dates: Oct 25-29th
Location: Orleans Casino, Las
Vegas
Who: Anyone can come!
What: 2 great parties, 12
private tournaments, 1 national
championship (qualifiers only),
and 1 really great time!
Jeff
Merrill took down the
state final for Vegas
Invasion in Nebraska,
becoming the first ever
league player to win 2
state championships!
Jeff previously won the
fall 2006 state title
and a trip the Bahamas
to play in the WPT
Caribbean Adventure main
event. Having
already qualified for
nationals directly as
league champ at Double
T's-Sundays (Columbus),
Jeff was already
planning his trip to
Vegas and a shot at the
big prizes at
nationals. He topped
off a great summer poker
league run by taking 1st
place in the state final
to earn the extra
expense money AND the
party pass! Well done,
Jeff, and congrats to
all 9 qualifiers from
Nebraska. Note:
Columbus players
dominated the list of
qualifiers with 7 out of
the final 9.

2008 WSOP /
National Championship Review
Jeff Miller
from MVP Lounge in Omaha and
Stacy Stanford from the
Touchdown Club in North Platte
went to Vegas
on June 27th to participate in the
"Destination
Las Vegas" National
Championship tournament.
The 25 person tournament was
at the Orleans Casino and up
for grabs was a $10,000 main
event WSOP seat.
Unfortunately neither player
took down the tournament, but
still had the next day to look
forward to. Both Nebraska
players played in the WSOP
event #52 a $1,500 buy-in on
Monday June 30th.
On Sunday May 18th
shortly after one o’clock we kicked off the Nebraska state championship
where two lucky people will be heading to Las Vegas to play in the World
Series of Poker. It was a beautiful day as the tournament over
looked the golf course at Hidden Valley in Lincoln.
Live blog & photos from the 2008 Bay 101
Tournament hopes and dreams of cashing in on the $1
million first place prize for the poker league crew
vanished at the end of day one of the main event. The
scene at the Bay 101 is a great experience, and
definitely the most fan-friendly stop on the World Poker
Tour that we have seen.
CONGRATS TO LARRY CULHANE!
Larry Culhane
from Lincoln was one of the 10
big winners in the Gold Rush
Championship.
He won a $3,000
package to play in a World Poker
Tour preliminary event at the
Bay 101 on March 9th.
Check out the video
montage we put together from the
championship!
The race is on in the final stretch of
the fall contest. Who will win the
medallion? (pictured right).
Brian Winters is proving with a
good run a person can climb the
leaderboard fast. He started
playing in week 9 and with 3 final
tables he's now in qualifying range at
the
Hidden Valley Golf Club
Congrats
to Scott Eckert
Congrats to
Scott Eckert for winning
$64,133 in the Heartland Poker Tour
event in Deadwood, S.D. Scott was
the runner up to Brandon Schotberger in
the Summer Poker Challenge.
REMINDER: It's the
final stretch of the GOLD RUSH!
Play your best poker in the coming weeks
to qualify for the finals and your
chance to be one of 10 big winners to
play in the Bay 101 event on the World
Poker Tour.
YOU COULD BE THE NEXT BIG WINNER!
Nebraska
players come up big at Summer Poker
Challenge Finals!
Congrats to Brandon
Schotberger (Alamo-North Platte)for
taking the 1st place prize of
$3,000 cash at the $10k cash
freeroll. In fact, 4 out of the
top 15 players in the $10k freeroll were
Nebraska players, including Kevin
Hamling (New World Inn-Columbus), Dan
Naekilis (MVP Lounge, Omaha), and Doug
Flaschner (MVP Lounge, Omaha).
